Permissions and access is granted from Position. In Position you can grant access and permissions to the following:
Locate Positions by searching in the open field of you menu.
All registred postion is listed here.
Include Inactive switch: If activated the register will include Inactive Positions. Inactive positions are hidden by default

Tip! Company and Position Type can be edited directly from the register. Click in the in the table to access the lookup. If you can't locate the Company/ Position Type in the Lookup, Click, Show more to view more records or use the Search field located at the top. |
To add/create a new Position press the + Add New Position button.
A new window will appear, fill in required fields about the new Position. Click Create Position button.
Disable inheritance: Disabling inheritance prevents the position from being granted permissions, work processes and other inheritances from Position Type or the Default Domain setup.
A new position is created, click Open position to get directed to Position details.
To open an existing Position, Click on the ID number highlighted in blue in the register. The Position form with Position details will then open in a new window.
Postion details holds key details about the position. There are mulitple tabs within this view.

Note! When a position has inheritance this will show as Inherited From within the information carriers. The field Inherited From has a short description of inheritance. E.g Inherited From: Position Type |
In the Persons tab, you can add person(s) with Person ID to the position. Click in the Name field to access the drop down list with Persons. Select person(s) that you want to add to the new position. In this view you can also define if the givens persons position is a e.g Deputy Role

In the Detailed description tab, you can add a detailed description to the position. Click on the edit button to add/change the description.
In the Delivery Lines tab , you can add Delivery Lines connected to the position. Click in the Delivery Line field to access the drop down list with Delivery Lines. Select the Delivery Line(s) that you want to add to the new position.

In the Discipline tab , you can add Disciplines connected to the position. Click in the Code field to access the drop down list with Discipline codes. Select the Code(s) that you want to add to the new position.

In the WorkProcess tab , you can add Work Processes connected to the position. Click in the Domain field and choose the domain, then click the Role field to enter role.
Note ! A Work Process role nominates a workflow signature based on the scope of the Workflow. This includes a setup with (Domain/DeliveryLine/Discipline) and what is configured in the Work Process role setup. |
In the permission field you can add Permission roles. Click in the Domain/ Role field to add more permission roles.
Note! Permission roles are System Roles that grant access to different modules in Pims, not only limited to PES. |
If the position needs to be connected to rotations this can be defined and set in under the Rotation tab. Select the Delivery line, From Date and Until Date and click in the line below to save. Person details will then be updated. Further information such as Site Location and description can also be added.
In the Courses tab , you can add courses connected to the position. Click in the Course Title field and choose the course(s) that you want to add to the position. Note ! Option to set a Course as Required by ticking of the Required tick box.
Note! If courses is inherited from Position Type, courses will automatically be listed in this tab.
You can copy an existing position and choose if you also want to Inheritance the positions related Delivery Lines, Disciplines, Work process Roles ,Permission Roles and Courses.
Click on the ID number to select position(s) that you want to copy from. The selected positions will be listed as shown below. Press Copy the selected positions to proceed.
You can make a batch update on the column fields From Date and To Date in the grid.
1. Filter the grid to show/list the positions that you want to make an update on. Example: E.g Filter on Company: (Contractor X) (3 results) 2. Click on "Bulk update icon" in grid. 3. A popup box will appear, select a new date that you want to update / replace the "To Date" fiels with and click Batch Update. Note! A warning will appear before changes are made to confirm the batch update. 4. Click Update to confirm batch update changes. |
If a person (external) needs to be added to a position this can be done by pressing the show all companies. External registered persons can then be found in the drop down list.
